Milan come to this season's Christmas break with a balance of 24 matches played: 14 victories, 5 draws, and 5 defeats. Away from San Siro more has to

MILAN - With the Christmas break the first part of the 2008/2009 is over. It's time to draw up the balance for the Rossoneri ahead of the departure for Dubai, where the team will work from 29 December to 7 January.
In the league the Rossoneri finish 2008 nine points below the top of the table, an important gap but which does not take away the right motivation from Carlo Ancelotti's lads to fight for the Scudetto.
This league season has unfortunately been characterised by numerous injuries which have limited Carlo Ancelotti's project. In 17 matchdays the Rossoneri have picked up 33 points, with 10 victories, 3 draws, and 4 defeats. Compared to last season, that's 15 points more, even though by the 17th matchday of last season the team had to recover three matches.
Of the 33 points earned so far no less than 24 were earned at San Siro, while only 9 points have been won in away games. Meanwhile, 28 goals were scored and 18 were conceded. From the third matchday Milan earned 11 consecutive positive results. Among these results there was the derby won on 28 September thanks to Ronaldinho's goal.
The Brazilian is the team's top goalscorer in the league with 7 goals from the matches against Inter, Sampdoria (2), Napoli, Lecce, and Palermo. Also Ricky Kaká confirmed himself as a top goalscorer, having scored 7 goals like his friend Ronaldinho.
In the Uefa Cup the team finished qualifying Group E in second place. Eight points were gathered with 2 victories and 2 draws. Eight goals were scored and five were conceded.
In the Coppa Italia Carlo Ancelotti's men were eliminated in the eighth finals after losing 2-1 to Lazio in extra time.
Overall, then, the 2008/09 season has seen Milan play 24 matches in which the Rossoneri earned 14 victories, 5 draws, and 5 defeats.
